2. Confidentiality – Everything shared in the group is confidential and is not to leave the group. For Virtual Meetings – A word about privacy: when we are meeting in person, it is easy to ensure that the group is meeting in a private place. When joining virtually, please remember to choose a private place to join the group. Group members need the assurance that you are in a private location – out of ear shot of family, friends, and household members.
3. Sharing – Sharing is encouraged, but not required.
4. Give Everyone Time to Speak when possible – Groups are most beneficial when all participants have the opportunity to share. Members must be mindful of limited time and give each person enough time to participate.
5. Avoid Disruptions – Members must give supportive attention to the person who is speaking. Please remove outside distractions and turn off all cell phones and unrelated electronics.
6. Respectful Discussion – The group does not discuss group members who are not present. Discussion should avoid condemning, shaming, and blaming.
7. Drug and Alcohol Use – We are happy to provide a virtual connection to support group so that we can stay connected even when we can’t be together in person. Shepherd Wellness Community’s Code of Conduct outlines what we all need to do to create a safe environment for everyone. That being said, we ask that you refrain from drug or alcohol use before or during group. If you are struggling with a substance use challenge, let us know. We will help you get the help you need.
