If you do not feel well, please do not attend an in-person dinner or program.
To help prevent respiratory infections:
· Get vaccinated: We strongly encourage eligible individuals to stay up to date on respiratory illness vaccines and boosters, including COVID-19, flu, and RSV.
· Wash your hands frequently.
· Avoid touching your face: Germs can enter your body through your eyes, nose, and mouth.
· Improve air quality: Open windows when possible to bring in fresh air.
· Wear a mask
· Avoid crowds and contact with people who are feeling sick
If you are sick, stay home and away from others until at least 24 hours after your symptoms are improving overall and you have been fever-free without using fever-reducing medicine such as Tylenol or Advil.
Once you are feeling better overall and have been fever-free, follow 5 additional days of precautions after the “stay home” period. These precautions include bringing in fresh air, wearing a well-fitting mask (preferably an N95 or KN95), and maintaining social distance of about 6 feet from others when possible. If available, testing for respiratory viruses can also help reduce the risk of spreading illness to others.
The total precaution period when you are ill—staying home and away from others, followed by 5 additional days of precautions—usually covers the time when most people are still contagious. Colds, for example, can remain contagious for up to 7 days after symptoms end. Please note that people with weakened immune systems may take longer to recover from respiratory viruses and may remain contagious longer. Because many of our members are immunocompromised, please keep this in mind when choosing precautions and deciding when to return to normal activities after illness.
Please call SWC (412-683-4477) with any questions or to confirm when you may return to SWC activities after illness. If your symptoms are not improving, continue to isolate. If you have severe symptoms or a weakened immune system, please consult your doctor before returning to SWC activities.
